POSITION SUMMARY:

Develop cost estimates for design/build and plan & spec jobs through analyzing blueprints and customer specifications for more complex projects. Works under minimal supervision and may provide some guidance to less experienced estimators.

Meets all minimum qualifications of Estimator I, in addition to the following:

· Prepare routine estimates under minimal supervision.

· Work with sales / service on site visits to gather information to propose estimates for customers

· Perform comparisons of scope, quantities and cost data between projects

· Sort through all specs to determine which ones are company specs and which ones are customer specs.

· Own project throughout lifecycle and seeks feedback on estimating variations and project profitability

· Works with senior level estimator(s) to successfully pursue an accurate estimate

· Keeps senior level estimators informed of key issues / opportunities that impact project success.

· Assist with sales strategy to close jobs

· Assist in developing Level 1 Estimators

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Keep current and up-to-date with computer software updates

· Participate in company training programs and attend authorized external conferences or seminars as required to keep current in company and industry standards and operating procedures.

· Perform any special assignments, additional projects, or other job-related duties as may be necessary to carry out the responsibilities of this position as required by the executive team

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

· 2-4 year college degree in relevant field such as Construction Management, Engineering, Architectural Design, and/or equivalent work experience

· 3-6 years of estimating experience in construction / mechanical contracting

· Strong working knowledge of computers, MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and internet resources

· Prior experience with Estimation Software required
