MONITOR TWP, MI – A veteran-owned business is expanding to Bay County and will bring with it a more than $2.5 million investment in the community and the prospect of 20 to 25 new jobs.

Progressive Mechanical Inc., a full-service mechanical, plumbing, process piping and fire protection contractor currently based out of Clawson, is opening a new location at 4684 Fraser Road.

Charly Hosler, executive vice president at Progressive Mechanical, said the company’s investment of over $2.5 million in Monitor Township will go toward property acquisition, renovation of the building, equipment and other upgrades for the 42,000-square-foot facility.

“We were looking to bring some processes in-house and needed another location,” Hosler said in a statement. “Bay County has been so welcoming and has the talent we need to get up and run quickly.”

The employees hired to work at the facility will be union employees from UA Local 85, according to a news release.

Local officials spoke highly of the company’s addition to the region.

“Charly and the team at Progressive Mechanical have been great to work with and we welcome them to our Monitor Township business community,” Monitor Township Supervisor Terry Spencer said in a statement.

“We are excited to support all economic development projects that improve job growth in our community in any way we can.”

Jim Barcia, Bay County Executive, added in a statement, “We’re thankful Progressive Mechanical has chosen to locate in Bay County, and we look forward to witnessing the future growth of the company.”

Progressive Mechanical is led by an uncle-nephew duo. Randy and Charles Hosler acquired the company in 2006.

One of the reasons the business is expanding is that it has been incredibly successful. The company’s revenue increased by more than 240% in 2023, according to Bay Future.

“Hard work from Consumers Energy and the staff at Monitor Township have been instrumental in making this project go smoothly,” Bay Future President and CEO Jim Reaume said in a statement.

“Progressive Mechanical is a perfect fit for Bay County, and we look forward to helping them be happy and successful.”
