Internship Program Overview
At Progressive Mechanical, interns become part of the team from day one. You’ll work alongside experienced mentors who are excited to teach, guide, and provide hands-on experience in the management of commercial construction projects. This internship offers valuable exposure to project coordination, communication, and field operations while helping you build the skills needed for a successful career in construction management.
Interns Will:
- Learn effective communication by working alongside a Project Manager throughout all phases of a project.
- Assist with project coordination, documentation, and daily operations.
- Develop a deeper understanding of programs like Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, and Navisworks.
- Write professional emails, read technical drawings, and interpret job specifications.
- Participate in meetings to learn how Project Managers communicate with general contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and field teams.
- Gain exposure to project scheduling, submittals, RFIs, and project closeout activities.
- Be exposed to job site safety and have multiple opportunities to visit active construction sites.
- Develop an understanding of how commercial construction projects progress from award through completion.
Qualifications
- Education: Higher education degree, high school diploma, or GED.
- Must have proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Must have a valid driver’s license with reliable transportation.
- Positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills.
- Strong desire for continued growth and learning in a team environment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
